§ 4.02. Mayor; qualifications, term of office.

  • (a)

    Qualifications. The mayoral candidate shall have been an elector of the city for at least three years prior to the qualification date to run for the office of mayor. Further, the mayor shall remain an elector of the city, and shall reside in the city at least six months of any 12-month period. Failure to possess and maintain any such qualification during a term of office shall be cause for forfeiture of the office and the council shall remove the mayor from office.

    (b)

    Term. The mayor shall be elected for a term of two years, and shall serve until a successor is elected.
